Best Summer Song

I'm Yours
by Jason Mraz

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it.
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted.
I fell right through the cracks and now I'm trying to get back.

Before the cool done run out I'll be giving it my bestest,
And nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention.
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some.

But I won't hesitate no more, no more.
It cannot wait, I'm yours.

Mmmmmm...

Well open up your mind and see like me.
Open up your plans and then you're free.
I look into your heart and you'll find love, love, love, love.

Listen to the music of the moment, people dance and sing.
We're just one big family.
And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved, loved.

So I won't hesitate no more, no more.
It cannot wait, I'm sure.
There's no need to complicate, our time is short.
This is our fate, I'm yours.

D-d-do do you, do you, d-d-do, do you want to come?
Scooch on over closer dear, I'll whisper in your ear.

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror,
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer.
But my breath fogged up the glass,
And so I drew a new face and I laughed.

I guess what I be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons.
It's what we aim to do, our name is our virtue.

But I won't hesitate no more, no more.
It cannot wait, I'm yours.

Come on and open up your mind and see like me.
(I won't hesitate)
Open up your plans and then you're free.
(No more, no more)
I look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours.
(It cannot wait, I'm sure)

So please don't, there's no need.
(There's no need to complicate)
There's no need to complicate.
(Our time is short)
'Cause our time is short.
(This is our fate)
This is, this is, this is our fate.
I'm yours, I'm sayin' I'm yours.

When Cooties Disappear

I have a new blog specifically about generating a Biblical view of Christian relationships. Most of my time will be spent there for the next couple months, so I encourage you to check it out and give me feedback!

Thanks!!

NEW BOOKS!

There is not a much more sweeter sound to me than the sound of "NEW BOOKS!" which anyone who knows me would understand.

My mom and I just ordered some books off Amazon yesterday which I'm super psyched about:

[My own copy of] I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris

Not Even A Hint: Guarding Your Heart Against Lust by Joshua Harris

(yes, I like Joshua Harris)

and...

Holding Hands, Holding Hearts: Recovering a Biblical View of Christian Dating by Richard D. Phillips and Sharon L. Phillips

I'll try and keep you updated about how I'm liking each book and I'll try to make a folder with my "dating book reviews."

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
“It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.”

*This goes along with the post - "Something To Think About"

Something To Think About

I've had something constantly on my mind since I started reading a certain book. Now don't immediately close this window when you hear the name of the book. Give it, and me, a chance. The book is I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris. I'm not finished with the book yet, but it is quickly becoming one of my favorites. But this post ultimately isn't about the book, although I do recommend it to everyone!

I'll explain briefly about the book. It is not what it sounds like. Joshua Harris isn't against guy/girl relationships, especially not marriage. But as I see it, he presents a biblical view of relationships in his book. He presents the idea of kissing the world's way of dating goodbye - an unhealthy, purely self-center string of relationships. If you want to learn more about the book I suggest you read it (duh!) and also check out this video on YouTube, which is Josh Harris talking about the book. (Please watch the whole thing! It's not too long.) Once I'm finished with the book, I'll try to remember to give my finished opinion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVJqlaNJRnw

Now...to why I wrote this post. It does have to do with something Josh Harris brought up in his book, and it has to do with the interaction between guys and girls. In our culture, society screams that we must have a boyfriend or girlfriend, we must dress to attract someone, and we must have the flirt-factor turned on max! And then we go around telling our friends how much we love them, even if we don't directly say "I love you." Even to our guy friends. That's what friendship is: LOVE!

Now I challenge you today to take responsibility of the love you show in your friendships, and as Christians to every believer.

Girls:
If you really love your brothers in Christ, you will guard their hearts. You guard their hearts by not tempting them, and as guys are often visual/physical that does mean the way you dress. If you really love your brothers in Christ you will dress modestly. (One idea I have is, if you have to ask [if it's too low or too short, etc.] you probably shouldn't wear it.) But this isn't a blurb about modesty. Also, if you love your brothers in Christ you will guard their hearts by not arousing desires you can't fulfill - that includes flirting of all kinds, even simple physical contact can be taken that way. My charge is, be careful. Show love by guarding their hearts. I know that any young man who truly desires to follow the Lord in all his ways will greatly appreciate the desire we have to guard their hearts.

Guys:
I don't know much about how you guys work, but I do know how us girls work - and apparently, it's very complicated. So please, I beg you, if you really love us as your sisters in Christ, don't toy with our emotions. Don't arouse desires in us that you have no intention of fulfilling or you just plain can't fulfill. Don't flirt. Don't lead us on. I know as a girl I would appreciate this more than you could ever know, and I'm assuming that all girls striving to live a hearty, God-centered Christian life will agree.

I know this is long, and I thank you for reading this. There's so much more I want to write (maybe later), but for now I suggest you take to heart the challenges I've presented and pick up your copy of I Kissed Dating Goodbye. (Soon I'll be starting more of Josh Harris' books and I'll try to give an update on them too).

For now, COMMENT! I want feedback. Do you agree? Disagree? Do you have something to add? Please!

Band/Instrument jokes (because, I guess, I really am a band geek at heart)

Q: How many conductors does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Only one, but then again, who's really watching?

Q: What's the difference between a dead saxophonist and a dead skunk in the road?
A: There are skid marks infront of the skunk.

Q: How do you confuse a drummer?
A: Put music infront of him.

A little boy tells his mommy, "I want to be a musician when I grow up!"
His mother replies, "But honey, you know you can't do both."

Q: Why did Mozart kill his chickens?
A: Because they always ran around screaming, "Bach! Bach! Bach!"

Speilsberg thought of an idea for a action drama about famous musicians played by superstars.
Sylvester Stallone, Steven Segall, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwartzenegger all showed up. Speilberg told them to pick what musician they wanted to be as long as they were famous.
"I'll be Mozart because I've always admired his classial music," said Stallone.
"I liked Chopin's piano music and I think I'll play his role," said Bruce.
"I think I'll be Beethoven because he wrote excellent music," Segall said.
Speilburg was excited because he loved this idea. When he asked who Arnold would be, Arnold said, "I'll be Bach".

Why were baritones invented?
Because someone thought the tuba should have a baby.

How many trumpet players does it take to change a light bulb?
None, because the world revolves around them!

The Ballad of Sorrow and Joy

The Ballad of Sorrow and Joy
-Jake Armerding

Sorrow sits upon a wire
he speaks discreetly to his shadows
I am hungry, I am hungry
Seek me out a pocketful of tears
Breath is short and breath is ragged
all at once you lose your footing
Knowing soon you will go under
drowning in a pocketful of tears
But joy will find you, joy will find you
hold you on one moment longer
Feel his hands upon your shoulders
point you toward the sun
You can put this night behind you
drink of love and drink of laughter
Drown yourself in joy's bright river
till darkness comes again
Come back home, your night is waiting
grinning, spinning threads around you
All your questions, there's no answer
you're drowning in a pocketful of tears
Cry for stop, he keeps on going
poisoning your calm remembrance
Then you hear that safety clicking
clicking in a pocketful of tears
But joy is shining, joy is shining
see him coming round your corner...

Storm

Storm (by Lifehouse)

How long have I been in this storm?
So overwhelmed by the ocean's
Shapeless form
Water's getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head

If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light

And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright

I know you didn't bring me out here to drown
So why am I ten feet under and upside down?
Barely surviving has become my purpose
Because I'm so used to living
Underneath the surface

If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light

And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright.

Broken

Broken (by Lifehouse)

The broken clock is a comfort
It helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow
From stealing all my time
I am here still waiting
Though I still have my doubts
I am damaged at best
Like you've already figured out

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on
I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you

The broken locks were a warning
You got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded
I'm an open book instead
I still see your reflection
Inside of my eyes
That are looking for purpose
They're still looking for life

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on
I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you

I'm hangin' on another day
Just to see what you will throw my way
And I'm hanging on to the words you say
You said that I will be ok

The broken lights on the freeway
Left me here alone
I may have lost my way now
Haven't forgotten my way home.

Hannah's Prayer

1 Samuel 2:1-10

And Hannah prayed and said:

"My heart rejoices in the Lord;
My horn is exalted in the Lord.
I smile at my enemies,
Because I rejoice in Your salvation.

"No one is holy like the Lord,
For there is none besides You,
Nor is there any rock like our God.

"Talk no more so very proudly;
Let no arrogance come from your mouth,
For the Lord is the God of knowledge;
And by Him actions are weighed.

"The bows of the mighty men are broken,
And those who stumbled are girded with strength.
Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread,
And the hungry have ceased to hunger.
Even the barren has borne seven,
And she who has many children has become feeble.

"The Lord kills and makes alive;
He brings down to the grave and brings up.
The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
He brings low and lifts up.
He raises the poor from the dust
And lifts the beggar from the ash heap,
To set them among princes
And make them inherit the throne of glory.

"For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's,
And He has set the world upon them.
He will guard the feet of His saints,
But the wicked shall be silent in darkness.

"For by strength no man shall prevail.
The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces;
From heaven He will thunder against them.
The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.

"He will give strength to His king,
And exalt the horn of His anointed."

~ISN'T IT AMAZING THAT THE PRAYERS OF THE OLD TESTAMENT SAINTS STILL HOLD TRUE TODAY, FOR US...LIVING IN THE 21ST CENTURY? WE STILL PRAY TO THE SAME GOD WHO IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER. IS THAT NOT AN AWE-INSPIRING AND AMAZING THOUGHT?~

Fairytale

"Fairytale" by Sara Bareilles

Cinderella's on her bedroom floor
She's got a
Crush on the guy at the liquor store
Cause Mr. Charming don't come home anymore
And she forgets why she came here
Sleeping Beauty's in a foul mood
For shame she says
None for you dear prince, i'm tired today
I'd rather sleep my whole life away than have you keep me from dreaming

Cause i don't care for you fairytales
You're so worried bout the maiden though you know
She's only waiting on the next best thing

Snow White is doing dishes again cause
What else can you do
With seven itty-bitty men?
Sends them to bed and calls up a friend
Says will you meet me at midnight?
The tall blonde lets out a cry of despair says
Would have cut it myself if i knew men could climb hair
I'll have to find another tower somewhere and keep away from the windows

Cause i don't care for you fairytales
You're so worried bout the maiden though you know
She's only waiting on the next best thing

Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom
Man made up a story said that i should believe him
Go and tell your white knight that he's handsome in hindsight
But i don't want the next best thing
So i sing and hold my head down and i break these walls round me
Can't take no more of your fairytale love

Cause i don't care for you fairytales
You're so worried bout the maiden though you know
She's only waiting on the next best thing
I don't care
I don't care
Worry bout the maiden though you know
She's only waiting spent the whole life being graded on the sanctity of patience and a dumb
Appreciation
But the story needs some mending and a better happy ending
Cause i don't want the next best thing
No no i don't want the next best thing

Summer Song

I fell in love with this song and I thought it would be a cute wedding song someday.

~Summer Song~
(oh, and apparently it's called Summer Song because the singer wrote it for his girlfriend, Summer, for their 2 year anniversary)
by Wavorly

Spread the blanket on top, and I’ll turn off the lights
And we’ll gaze at the stars
With you by my side, the moon set to the right
It’s incomparable so far

I haven’t stopped falling in love
Haven’t stopped falling

Two years ago, I had no idea that you were so perfect
As we wait so long, until we join hands
You make the wait worth it

I haven’t stopped falling in love
Haven’t stopped falling

Now years down the road
Still hasn’t gotten old to sit and laugh the day away
There’s one thing you should know
My love for you grows even more every day

I haven’t stopped falling in love
Haven’t stopped falling in love

And the day that I finally can take you home
There’s no way that I’m ever, ever letting go
We’ll be ok, though miles may separate
There’s no space between our hearts
And this day, I choose to keep loving you
As if it were a choice, I can’t stop falling…

I haven’t stopped falling in love

Panic at the Disco (Pretty. Odd.)

I'm stoked about the new Panic album coming out (Pretty. Odd.) on March 25, 2008! So far, only 1 song is available on iTunes (Nine in the Afternoon), but 5 song lyrics are available on the internet. I really liked Panic's sound in their first album "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" but I didn't like the lyrics - they were really depressing and emo-ish (you get what I mean, hopefully...if you don't, just search them on the internet). But when I found out Panic was coming out with a new album I was interested in the lyrics, which were actually pretty good - totally different than the first album. So, as my blog name indicates (Lyrical Masquerade), I aim to bring you the best in the lyrics. So here it goes for Panic at the Disco (no exclamation point.)

{Nine In The Afternoon}

Back to the streets where we began
Feeling as good as lovers can, you know
Well, now we're feeling so good

Pickin' up things we shouldn't read
It looks like the end of history as we know
It's just the end of the world

Back to the street where we began
Feeling as good as love, you could, you can

Into a place, where thoughts can bloom
Into a room where it's nine in the afternoon
And we know that it could be
And we know that it should
And you know that you feel it too
'Cause it's nine in the afternoon

Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you can so you do
We're feeling so good
just the way that we do
When it's nine in the afternoon

{We're So Starving}

Oh, how it's been so long,
We're so sorry we've been gone,
We were busy writing songs for you.

You don't have to worry
'Cause we're still the same
(We're still the same)
Band.

{When The Day Met The Night}

When the moon fell in love with the sun
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night

When the sun found the moon
She was drinking tea out in a garden
Under the green umbrella trees
In the middle of summer

When the moon found the sun
He looked like he was barely hanging on
But her eyes saved his light
In the middle of summer

In the middle of summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
Summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
Summer, summer, summer
All was golden when the day met the night

So he said, "Would it be all right
If we just sat and talked for a little while
If in exchange for your time
I give you this smile?"

So she said, "That's okay
As long as you can make a promise
Not to break my little heart
Or leave me all alone in the summer."

He was just hanging around
Then he fell in love
And he didn't know how
But he couldn't get out
Just hanging around
Then he fell in love

In the middle of summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
Summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
Summer, summer, summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night

{The Piano Knows Something I Don't Know}

I wont cut my beard and I wont change my hair.
It grows like fancy flowers but it grows nowhere.
If I could build my house just like the Trojan horse,
I'd put a statue of myself upon the shelf of course.
She's the smoke, she's dancing fancy pirouettes.
Swan diving off of the deep end of my tragic cigarette.
She's steam, laughing on the windowpanes.
The never-ending swaying haze,
oh that ever smiling maze ballet.
Everything's gone missing. I've lost more songs to floods.
I can't prove this makes any sense but I sure hope that it does.
Perhaps, I was born with the curiosity of old crows.
The piano knows something I don't know.

~Hope you enjoyed another segment of lyrics~

He Took Our Shame

Matthew 27:27-50
Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said. They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. They came to a place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull). There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, "You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!"
In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. "He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! He's the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, 'I am the Son of God.' " In the same way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah."

Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him."

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.

.............Jesus suffered all that for OUR SAKE!!! But we serve a LIVING GOD.........

Matthew 28:1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 1Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

ISN'T OUR GOD GREAT?!

All That Matters (Addison Road)

I may never be the one that gets a second glance
I may never be the one they call the prettiest
But that’s alright with me

And maybe I don’t follow every crazy passion
Spend all my time trying to get a good reaction
But that’s ok with me

This world is like a trampoline
High and low no in between
Jumping at the chance to please
Everyone but that’s not me

Cause all that matters is
All that matters is
I know your love has set me free
And that’s all that matters to me

Some people tell me to step out and do my own thing
And others say I got to blend in just to be the same
And stop being me

But this shallow world is no longer what I’m made of
I’ve been changed by grace
I’ve been saved by love
What more do I need

My life comes from the One
Who made the stars and brought the sun
He loves me more than these
So I don’t need another identity

Attitude of Gratitude

I was reminded this morning in my devotions about God's providence, and I was just so encouraged I had to share!

Jeremiah 10:23 says, "O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps." ~ God directs our steps!

John Calvin says:
"Gratitude of mind for the favorable outcome of things, patience in adversity, and also incredible freedom from worry about the future all necessarily follow upon this knowledge. Therefore, whatever shall happen prosperously and according to the desire of his heart, God’s servant will attribute wholly to God, whether he feels God’s beneficence through the ministry of men, or has been helped by inanimate creatures. For thus he will reason in his mind: surely it is the Lord who has inclined their hearts to me, who has so bound them to me that they should become the instruments of his kindness."

So, all that in mind, I sat down and filled up half a page with the things I'm thankful for and that God has provided me with - which I seldom take time to acknowledge.

What are ways God provides for me?
-Medicine when I'm sick
-Food and drink (in excess!)
-My OWN Bible to study freely from
-Sight - to read books and music, for example
-Hearing - to hear music and make music, for example
-Legs that work to walk, run, and do sports (volleyball:])
-Money to go to a Christian school, to be taught by dedicated Christians, and the freedom to pray, learn, and share about god at school
-Friends who are strong, encouraging believers
-Parents that love me exceedingly and are strong in their faith
-Clothes suitable for cold New England weather
-A warm, clean, comfortable house
-A washer and dryer to have clean clothes
-A car to get places
-And above all: His Son, who died for my sins in my place. I deserve to go to hell but I've been spared God's wrath. Jesus took it for me.

Those are only a few ways that God provides in my life. I encourage you to take time out of your busy lifestyle to think about everything God has given you to make that lifestyle as complete as it is.

A Poem For Kari (a tribute to Alex Gaskarth)

A Poem for Kari
by Hannah Laplaca

We all have a dream guy
Yes, you know it's true
Someone to rely on
Who will always pull you through

So here's to Kari's happiness
And this dream guy I'm gonna talk about
It's just like a match made in Heaven
They're meant to be together without a doubt

Alex is his name
And boy, is he the man
His brawny arms are a comfort to her
And His skin is nice and tan

Did I mention he's an underwear model?
Now don't be critical and mean
It doesn't matter his profession
It's the heart that Kari sees

The things she loves about him
Are too numerous to number
I'll try to keep them minimum
So I don't cause you to slumber

How his shaggy blonde hair
Brusstles her nose
And how it makes her tingle
From her head to her toes

The comfort that she seeks
And that only he can give
It would seem, to you and me
That he's the reason she lives

Even though they want to get married
The chances are very slim
But she is very responsible
She has room in her heart for God and him

What else can I say?
It should be obvous to you
That they belong together
They're the perfect little two

Blind Eyes

I saw you with blind eyes
And behind those eyes you were wonderful
You were all I could want
All I could want

Love is blind
And so am I
But baby, this sure ain't love
I don't know where I went wrong
But I messed up somehow
I saw you with blind eyes

Blind eyes, blind eyes
If only you knew
I saw you through a lens
Blurr-ed, Blurr-y

I don't know why
It's all become clear
But sure enough it has
I don't like deception
My eyes are deception

Blind eyes, blind eyes
Opened finally
Now I see you for you
And stupid me for me

Write You A Song (Plain White T's)

I don't know how to make lots of money
I got debts that I'm trying to pay
I can't buy you nice things, like big diamond rings
But that don't mean much anyway
I can't give you the house you've been dreaming
If I could I would build it alone
I'd be out there all day, just hammering away
Make us a place of our own

I will write you a song
That's how you'll know that my love is still strong
I will write you a song
And you'll know from this song that I just can't go on without you

I don't know that I'd make a good soldier
I don't believe in being violent and cruel
I don't know how to fight, but I'll draw blood tonight
If somebody tries hurting you

I will write you a song
That's how you'll know that my love is still strong
I will write you a song
And you'll know from this song that I just can't go on without you

Now that it's out on the table (it's out on the table)
Both of us knew all along (knew all along)
I've got your loving and you've got my song

I don't know how to make lots of money
I don't know all the right things to do
I can't say where we'll go, but the one thing I know
Is how to be a good man to you
Until I die that's what I'll do

I will write you a song
That's how you'll know that my love is still strong
I will write you a song
And you'll know from this song that I just can't go on without
I will write you a song (I will write you a song)
That's how you'll know that my love is still strong (love is still strong)
I will write you a song
And you know from this song that I just can't go on without you

(Another adorable song from my favorite acoustic songs!)

Boys Like Relient All Time Kings

I'm sorry for the person I became.
I'm sorry that it took so long for me to change.
I'm ready to be sure I never become that way again
'cause who I am hates who I've been.
Who I am hates who I've been.
I talk to absolutely no one.
Couldn't keep to myself enough.
And the things bottled inside have finally begun
To create so much pressure that I'll soon blow up.

I’m giving up on doing this alone now
Cause I’ve failed and I’m ready to be shown how
He’s told me the way and I’m trying to get there
And this life sentence that I’m serving
I admit that I’m every bit deserving
But the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair.
I am a hostage to my own humanity
Self detained and forced to live in this mess I’ve made
And all I’m asking is for You to do what You can with me
But I can’t ask You to give what You already gave

Stay for a moment and
I promise that I will be different
and you'll see me
Wait, Wait
And I'll show you
There is more to this if you will listen
And you'll soon believe

Quiet
I will be
So sure
Calling your bluff
I think you lost
Your will to fight
And you know
I'll storm
Through your castles doors
Cause you know that I'm good for you
And you're scared of what you'll find
A love you won't regret
Give me this
One last fighting chance
To crash the wall
I'll get to you
You are a war
Worth dying for
Tonight
Give me this
One last fighting chance
To be the kid
Who caved you in
It'd be so easy
To lose myself to you
So open up
Your friendly fire
And let me be
The kill you're missing
Don't wanna see you
Close your eyes
Until this is over

Luck loves me not tonight, I'm running out...
This four leaf clover's all but useless now.
I've got four wheels that say I'm not alone tonight,
I'm always looking for a joy ride through the,
brightest part of this town.
Break out, break out,
as we escape through the windows,
head for the car, and never look back, singing-singing,
"Break out, break out,
Our time has come and we've got these big city dreams."
Put up or shut up, we're not wasting time again,
The credits are rolling and we're getting lost again,
In parking lots, to serenading sirens,
as the blue lights bathed our smiles...
Break out, break out,
as we escape through the windows,
head for the car, and never look back, singing-singing,
"Break out, break out,
Our time has come and we've got these big city dreams."
Lets take a moment to reflect,
on the past few years of my life,
I haven't worked myself away,
to stay inside.
This is the time to let us...
Break out, break out,
as we escape through the windows,
head for the car, and never look back, singing-singing,
"Break out, break out,
Our time has come and we've got these big city dreams."

Take off your makeup and put down the camera,
choke on the drama that makes me want to,
tear up the pictures, the pages you've saved,
creating a life of trends and make believe...

I've never told a lie,
and that makes me a liar,
I've never made a bet,
but we gamble with desire,
I've never lit a match,
with intent to start a fire,
but recently the flames,
are getting out of control

I won't try to philosophize
I'll just take a deep breath and I'll look in your eyes
This is how I feel
And it's so surreal

Can you hear the crowd is calling,
"Hey, sing louder now,"
You've got to show them what it means to be alive...
Dancing through the night has never been so rock n' roll,
You've got a good thing and it's time to let them know.

And if the story ends here
I can't be surprised to find
Your eyes are open wide
And that I have inspired you

Tears

Tears are special, to say the least. It's not a habit of mine to cry, so when I do I know it's for a reason. To me, tears are a way our body expresses the most passionate emotions - the most joyful of joy and the deepest pit of sadness. I value tears. It's a reminder that I have someone I care enough to cry about.

The Song of Moses

This morning in my devotions I read about the Israelites fleeing from Egypt and the waters parting for them in Exodus 14, but then in Exodus 15 I read the song of Moses. I've never really taken the time to examine this chapter or savor the beauty of God displayed in these words, so I wanted to share the joy I discovered.

Exodus 15:1-18

"Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke saying:

'I will sing unto the Lord,
For He has triumphed gloriously!
The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea!
The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation;
He is my God, and I will praise Him;
My father's God, and I will exalt Him.
The Lord is a man of war;
The Lord is His name.
Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea;
His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea.
The depths have covered them;
They sank to the bottom like a stone.

Your right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power;
Your right hand, O Lord, has dashed the enemy in pieces.
And in the greatness of Your excellence
You have overthrown those who rose against you;
You sent forth Your wrath;
It consumed them like stubble.
And with the blast of Your nostrils
The waters were gathered together;
The floods stood upright like a heap;
The depths congealed in the heart of the sea.
The enemy said, "I will pursue,
I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil;
My desire shall be satisfied on them.
I will draw my sword,
My hand shall destroy them."
You blew with Your wind,
The sea covered them;
They sank like lead in the mighty waters.

Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness,
Fearful in praises, doing wonders?
You stretched out Your right hand;
The earth swallowed them.
You in Your mercy have led forth
The people whom you have redeemed;
You have guided them in Your strength
To Your holy habitation.

The people will hear and be afraid;
Sorrow will take hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.
Then the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed;
The mighty men of Moab,
Trembling will take hold of them;
All the inhabitants of Canaan will melt away.
Fear and dread will fall on them;
By the greatness of your arm
They will be as still as a stone,
Till Your people pass over, O Lord,
Till the people pass over
Whom You have purchased.
You will bring them in and plant them
In the mountain of Your inheritance,
In the place, O Lord, which You have made
For your own dwelling,
The sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.

The Lord shall reign forever and ever.'"

Health...to the extreme

Today I took a "Health & Wellness" class. It was VERY informative and I thought I'd share a little of the very useful information.

First of all, why is health important?

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God?...So use every part of your body to give back to God..." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

"You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:20

Did you know?
The heart weighs less than one pound and yet beats approximately 40 million times per minute.
The energy output of the heartbeat in a 24-hour period alone is enough to raise three fully-loaded Greyhound buses off the ground.
The lungs use about 90-gallons of pure oxygen per day.
We take approximately 9-million breaths per year!
(And that's just a few of the amazing facts I learned!)

Healthy decisions: make a choice! Pure & sufficient or toxic & deficient?

So... move well (exercise!), eat well (lots of water, for example; and did you know that breakfast and lunch should be your biggest meals because you need the energy to get through the day? But dinner does have to be so big, because the food will not get burned off), and think well (the body achieves what the mind believes).

Life is...
a gift, open it
a joy, share it
a pleasure, have some
a ball, catch it
a game, play it
an experience, live it
an offer, accept it
a dream, make it come true!

(This is all thanks to Drs. Anthony & Stephanie Lanzara...amazing and informative class!)

By the way, watch the movie, Supersize Me. It's GROSS but you'll never want to eat at McDonald's again! Trust me!

Lucas

I just recently finished the book Lucas by Kevin Brooks. I thought the book was very well written, although it was one of those books where you're just saying, "When is this going to get exciting?" I absolutely loved how the author wrote though - although he's most definetly not my favorite author (that would have to be J.K. Rowling and Stephanie Meyers) - but it was very well written and had a hint of mysteriousness to it, kind of letting you decide for yourself what it meant. The book was practical, displaying typical situations for a teenage girl. I also thought it was interesting that the author decided to write from a girl's perspective, but I think he did very well at displaying the emotions. I wouldn't recommend this book, just because of language and some sketchy situations the main character finds herself in, but it was refreshing to read words that just flowed off my tongue and through my mind like music.

Remembering Sunday

This is a song I ABSOLUTELY love. I think the story is sad, but really good. And yes, this is a PUNK song with a story - NOT COUNTRY!!!! Anyway, this is Remembering Sunday by All Time Low.

Remembering Sunday
He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Starting making his way past 2 in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days

Leaning now into the breeze
Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
They had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last
Like the feeling of what he needs

Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
Who could deny these butterflies?
They're filling his gut

Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
He pleads though he tries
But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense
Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, whoever she may be

[Juliet Simms:]
I'm not coming back (forgive me)
I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak (I'm not calling, I'm not calling)
But you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just (You're driving me crazy, I'm)
Washing you out of my hair and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,
From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head

[Alex Gaskarth:]
"Well I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home"

The music is really amazing too. They don't have an official music video for it yet, but I can play it...! It's just wonderful - my favorite song right now, so I thought I'd share.

for the first

<>

I don't feel like studying, to start off with, so I'm procrastinating. Midterms are yucky! I'm pretty excited about blogging - which I've never done before! So, we'll see how this goes...? I guess this is where you talk about stuff - like what's on your mind and things like that, so here goes.

Now, for the serious stuff. I've had a lot on my mind lately, but one thing has stuck out in particular, and that is how judgmental can be. It really tears people down, and it kills me to hear my friends judge other people - usually looks, weight, etc. There's more to people than their weight? Is that all that matters these days to people? I think - I know - that as Christians, that's not the way we should be acting (and believe me, its WE, because I'm guilty too). I just get tired of all the junk that goes around! I mean, what's being said about me? I try not to care about that kind of thing, but as a human (and a teenager :) I suppose it's hard not to. That's just one thing I would change about my life and the people around me right now.

Let me hear your comments! What do you think about this? And what would you like me to talk about in the future?

For now, I leave you with these lyrics:
